ABOUT SLY FOX WRITING
My name is Hilary and I am the founder and director of Sly Fox Writing Consultants. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of California San Diego while teaching and mentoring in the Revelle undergraduate writing program. I was trained in persuasive writing techniques and have years of experience helping writers find their voice through shrewd editing practices. I have worked in academia for over a decade as a faculty and graduate writing consultant, lecturer, and undergraduate writing tutor at four different R-1 institutions. During my career, I discovered the struggle of faculty and graduate students to keep up with the pressure of publishing and found my passion in helping brilliant people polish their work. At Sly Fox Writing, we have the experience and knowledge you need to push your projects to the next level.
WHAT WE OFFER
PROOFREADING
The Sly Fox proofreading service leaves your prose intact, but makes minor edits for small errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, repeated or missing words, and capitalization.
$0.05 per word
COPY EDITING
The Sly Fox copy editing service includes proofreading, formatting, edits for clarity, and follows the principles of writing for concision. Copy editing includes proofreading and formatting references and works cited pages, footnotes, or in-text citations.
$0.07 per word (including references)
DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
The Sly Fox developmental editing service is the most comprehensive. This service adds, subtracts, or reorganizes entire sections of text to improve the overall content and structure. This includes line by line editing, copyediting, basic proofreading, and formatting for references.
$0.10 per word (including references)
BOOK + MANUSCRIPT EDITING
The Sly Fox book and manuscript editing service is priced on a case by case basis. Please reach out with details about any projects exceeding 35 pages and we will work on special pricing to offer editing services at a highly discounted rate. The book and manuscript editing service includes a free one-hour consultation to discuss your vision for the final product.
CONSULTATION
It can be so hard to get a one-on-one meeting with faculty to discuss your big ideas. Let us help! We can meet virtually to think through ideas, outline your work, and make a dedicated work plan. With years of experience writing, consulting, and working as faculty, we can identify students’ problem areas and work with them in positive, constructive ways to achieve success.
